I have finished my two weeks at the Biggest Loser Fitness Ridge Resort in Malibu and I’d like to tell you about it. If anyone is looking for a place to get to get health and fitness tips and get your healthy lifestyle on track this is a program that will be worth your time.
We start each day with an optional stretch class that to me should be mandatory. It makes your morning hike much easier when your stretched and ready to go. It feels so good to get those muscles loosened up and ready for the day. Breakfast is next and this meal you have options..oatmeal and a protein or a protein shake with a scrambled egg, an egg scramble with veggies. Very well-balanced for the hike ahead. The hikes are divided into 3 categories. Beginner, Intermediate and advanced. We all do a Monday morning assessment hike that will determine which you are placed in. My first week I was in the intermediate and the second I was in the advanced. Regardless of which you are placed you get the best morning exercise possible and the views are beyond beautiful. Seeing the ocean from the trail on the side of a mountain is unforgettable. I hiked thru the burned remains of the Calamos mountains to see cactuses and plants seeing their way back and the deer out for their morning stroll. Like I said….just beautiful. But as beautiful as the sites were the hikes were twice as hard. Worth every blister and ache and pain and scratches you received along the way.
After the hike came a short rest period to change and shower before lunch and the rest of our busy day. Lunch consisted of a healthy salad bar with freshly made dressing by Chef Cam. A few of our lunches were carrot soup w/tuna salad or veggie burger along with steamed veggies. A Vietnamese Wrap with spinach salad, BBQ chicken pizza, hummas and pita, Quinoa lettuce wraps. All the food is freshly made and you can taste it. All the food was superb. After lunch if its your first week you have a lecture then exercise classes. The lectures are very interesting and well worth the time. From explaining our In-Body weight print out to explaining how to read a label on food in a grocery store to explaining how emotional eating effects our every choice. We all need this knowledge but few us get the advantage to listen to a dietician to obtain it.
Now comes our exercise portion of the day. WOW…tough but fun classes. From Cardio Intervals, total toning, pool class, treading (cardio), kickboxing, Mountain, to Ball Works. We each had 3 classes after lunch with a 30 minute refuel period which was a snack of fruit and protein. Another thing I learned. Always pair your fruit with protein to keep your body going for the rest of the day.
We then had dinner which again was all food made right there on site by Chef Cam and was wonderful. Don’t worry if you have food allergies…they will definitely make a special meal or desert or whatever it is you need. The rest of the evening is your to do with what you chose. I always chose a hot shower and a few hours of tv before I passed out and faced the next day.
The staff is more the helpful with whatever it is you may need. From first aid to making spa appointments to making sure you have everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one.
Would I recommend this to everyone….Absolutely.
Thank you Biggest Loser for kicking my butt in the most pleasant way.

Well the hike today was thru the burned areas in Calamaos Mountains. The hike was wonderful, tough and totally inspirational. To see the wildlife and the foilage coming back to the area was amazing. We hiked up to the top of one of the mountains and overlooked the oceans and beaches and really makes you think of what a beautiful country we have. After the hike we had stretch class which today was all foam rolling. It felt so good to roll out the knots and muscles that i have been using non stop since i got here. I graduated to the advanced hikers van today and truly thought I was not going to make it. But the guides and the few opthers that were on the hike proved to be all the motivation i needed to do. We Rocked it.
One week down…One to go!!!

What a wonderful week i’ve had at the Biggest Loser Ranch. Starrting each morning with a mountain hike, then an informative lecture, follwed by 4 more exercise classes. I can honestly say that i have done cardio classes and have done strength classes and have combined them both. But I have never done a water class before. Holy cow is it tough. I apologize to anyone if they ever heard me say that an aquatic class isnt hard. I was exhausted after water class.
I have also been fortunate enough to add new friends and some i condiser family to my contact list. The people are so supportive that it makes me feel so happy and blessed to know them. Theres a girl here from Georgia that I have bonded with that if there is trouble to be found….we will find it!!!!!
